Grid Engine Administration Training'12

We are pleased to announce the 3th "Grid Engine Training" from HPCKP. This is a training course aimed to share expertise and strategies of most popular Batch Queue System in High Performance Computing.

This meeting will be held at the University of Barcelona, from 26th to 28th March, 2012. It is organized by the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Reference Network on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (XRQTC).

Call for Presentation & Tutorial Proposals

GE Admins and Developers are encouraged to submit proposals for Presentations and Tutorials to be given during the conference. Concurrent sessions are scheduled in 50-minute and 2h blocks.

We would like to cover all areas of interest of Grid Engine Batch Queue System. For that reason, we encourage you to submit presentations or tutorials related with these software. The main objective is to share knowledge, that's why, we will reject all commercial presentations.

Proposal Submission

all proposals be submitted as a single pdf file via e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) by 26th Feb, 2012, including:

  1. Contact information
  2. A 200-word (maximum) abstract
  3. Only for tutorials : a detailed description of the tutorial content (maximum 2 pages) containing:
    • Targeted audience
    • Content level (split into: beginner, intermediate, advanced)
    • Audience prerequisites
    • Detailed outline (maximum 1 page)

No special accommodation have been agreed by the workshop organization, but there is number of hotels and student residences available close to the venue.

How to arrive?

By Plane

El Prat airport is situated approximately 15 km from the Faculty of Chemistry. Taking a taxi would be the best option to reach the venue. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Approximate price: 20 € . To come by train from the airport, take Line 1 of the local train service (RENFE Rodalies) as far as the mainline station “Barcelona Sants”, which has connections with the metro system (Line 3). Take the metro in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Train 

Go to "Barcelona Sants" mainline station (metro stop "Sants Estació"), which has connections with the metro system (Line 3). Take the metro in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Metro

Take Line 3 in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Bus

Routes 7, 33, 60, 67, 68, 74 and 75 pass near the venue. Further information: TMB.

By Tram

Routes T1, T2 and T3 pass through the campus area. Further information at Tram website.

   

Registration

Registration fee includes electronic version of abstracts, coffee breaks and lunch (VAT included).

Number of participants is limited to 40, acceptance will be made on a first come first serve basis [FIFO policy :-)].
