The Computational Biochemistry and Biophysics lab at the GRIB, IMIM/UPF
is looking to incorporate two research fellows to expand the team within the SEMANTIC project funded by the INNPACTO program. The project brings together two public institutions and two companies into the development of intelligent systems for the management of clinical data and remote monitoring of multiple sclerosis patients. The CBBL (http://cbbl.imim.es), one of the labs integrating the research program on biomedical informatics (GRIB) at the UPF‘s department of experimental and health sciences, provides within this project tools for data analysis and their integration into complex biomedical informatics workflows.
Salary will follow the official UPF tables (Research project member categories 1-3, depending on skills).
Applicants must have: 1) PhD degree or MSc degree (depending on the profile below, although other levels will also be considered if perfectly suitable); 2) demonstratable experience in the required skills; 3) publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals; 4) excellent written and spoken English. 5) demonstratable experience development and/or use of advanced bioinformatics software, data mining, modeling, machine learning, statistical analyses.

Candidates with EU passport will have preference for bureochratic reasons. Positions are offered for 12 months, starting in January 2012.
Two positions are offered:
- Ref. 2011-IN-P Postdoctoral researcher on the development of statistical/probabilistic clinical decision support (CDS) tools. The expected candidate will have a degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a related background.
- Ref. 2011-IN-M Researcher with an MSc degree on computer science, bioinformatics or related subjects for the development of complex bioinformatics workflows. Demonstratable experience with Taverna, Knime, GSEngine or related workflow generation tools is required.
